FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT ROLE PROFILE

Role Objective

Effectively and efficiently manages the finance, finance processes and financial systems of the company, thereby ensuring a sound, accurate and up to date representation of the company’s financial position.  Analysing the financial information and advising the Managing director and relevant stakeholders on Finance matters.

Key responsibilities

Operational

• Processing of financial information (mostly bank) and allocating of expenses in correct categories.
• Perform journal entries.
• Perform / review various reconciliations (Stock/inventory, Bank, Salaries, debtors and Creditors).
• Load approved payments on online banking platform.
• Report bank balances.
• Draft expense variance reports.
• Compile annual budgets for various departments and company as a whole.
• Compile management reports for review by owner by the 15^th of the month.
• Draft cash flow forecasts.
• Maintain fixed asset register and reconcile the assets to the general ledger.
• Ensure financial statements are signed off by external auditors.
  • Engage and cooperates with external auditors to implement recommendations for improvement of financial management systems/practices.
  • Ensure all financial expenses have the necessary supporting documentation.
  • Ensure Finance related processes, policies and procedures are documented, communicated and implemented.

Payroll

• Ensures the payment of all company Tax liabilities (income tax, PAYE, VAT, all regional and national levies) on time and accurately.
• Review the payroll related activities by the Payroll service provider.

Team

• Review the work of the Finance and Sales team to ensure quality and delivery according to deadlines.
• Provide on-the-job knowledge sharing and up-skilling of the Finance team.
• Have regular performance feedback discussions with team members to ensure alignment, feedback and recognition.
• Ensure team adheres to all company policies and procedures / agreed ways of working.

Other

• Prepare documents for monthly exco meetings.
• Oversee the Employment Equity reporting and relevant activities done by the external service provider.
• Oversee the SETA reporting (Annual training report and Workplace skills plan) and relevant activities done by the external service provider.

General

• The Admin & Finance team reports in to this role.
• This role reports to the Directors.
• This role is based at the office and factory in Stikland, Western Cape.
• Understand and adhere to all company Policies & Procedures/agreed ways of working.
• Perform any other reasonable task required by the company.

Key requirements

• Tertiary qualification in Finance.
• Registered as Professional Accountant at SAIPA (advantageous).
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience.
• Previous experience in the Retail / Manufacturing industry (advantageous).
• Previous experience working with stock (advantageous).
• Previous experience with a financial system.
• Work meticulous and methodological.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
