Accountant - Johannesburg

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key roles and responsibilities:

vFocus on technical accounting, training other staff members in the company on journals and accounting principles.

vImplementation / research / review of new IFRS standards.

vPerform various month end tasks.

vPreparation and review of monthly general ledger reconciliations.

vProcessing and preparation of various journals as part of the month end procedures.

vAssisting with accounting system migration and various testing procedures.

vPerform detailed investigations into various General Ledger accounts, identify errors and train the relevant personnel accordingly.

vComplication and performing detailed reviews of both direct and indirect tax calculations, packs and returns.

vAssist with annual financial statements preparation and review.

vAssist with daily operational tasks.

vCash forecasting on a daily / monthly basis.

vPerform a number of ad-hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

vMinimum 3 years’ experience in Accounting.

vDegree in Accounting.

vCompleted articles.

vAdvanced computer skills - MS Excel (Vlookups, Pivots, Etc) – not negotiable and will be tested.

vA very good understanding and experience of financial systems.

vDetailed understanding of IFRS principles, including IFRS 15 and 16 – not negotiable and will be tested.

vSystem migration experience beneficial.

vExcellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

vAbility to work under pressure.

vAbility to identify problems and correct them.

vAbility to work independently.

vSense of responsibility.

vPrecision & accuracy of work.

vDeadline driven.

vWilling to work extended hours – Particularly over month and year ends.
