Accountant - Africa

SUMMARY:
An exciting opportunity for a company based in Johannesburg South has become vacant. The role reports into the Regional Executive: Financial Director. The Accountants will be responsible for duties (amongst other duties) related to Zimbabwe and Swaziland.

POSITION INFO:

• Overseeing of financial disciplines within the company’s branches across borders
• Travelling to over the border branches to confirm internal controls are in place and working
• Travelling to over the border branches to provide commercial and other assistance when required
• Assisting in preparing the month-end records up to management accounts
• Staying abreast of all legislative requirements relating to the commercial operation of our branches across borders
• Tax related controls, including reasonability tests and reconciliation between Tax returns and general ledger and ensuring that all statutory returns are submitted timeously and correctly
• Investigating unexpected variances in the income statement
• Monitoring all debtors and creditor records and bank balances
• Setting up and maintaining monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts for Swaziland and reviewing these for Zimbabwe
• Preparation of lead schedules for all relevant balance sheet accounts at financial year-end for Swaziland and reviewing these for Zimbabwe
• Assisting the Gauteng team when required

Requirements

• B. Com degree with accounting subjects
• Minimum 5 years work experience in an accounting environment of which 2 years should be in a manufacturing environment
• Cross border experience and international commercial knowledge will be beneficial
• SAP experience essential
• Computer literate, with advanced Excel
• Auditing experience will be beneficial
• Confident and independent person who is a fast learner
• Being a team player
