Accountant

SUMMARY:
Our client in Randburg is looking to employ an Accountant to assist with the preparation of the monthly management reports, annual consolidated financial statements as well as general corporate accounting issues.

POSITION INFO:

Main responsibilities

Responsible for the full accounting function to trial balance which include, but is not limited to general ledger processing, and all balance sheet reconciliations

Complete the general ledger close off every month, once all journals are processed for the month

Responsible for maintaining the fixed asset register

Load payments on the banking system

Prepare and submit VAT201 returns

Prepare monthly audit schedules for balance sheet and income statement

Explain deviations (comparison of budget to actual results)

Liaise with operational departments with regards to any variances

Preparation of year-end accounts and coordination with external auditors

Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, ad hoc & year-end reporting as required by management

Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice

Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts

Preparation of year-end income taxation calculation

Preparation of year-end financial statements

Compilation of all necessary annual BEE financial schedules

Other ad-hoc accounting related duties

Abide by company policy, departmental procedures and procurement processes and core values

Qualifications and experience

Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4

Bcomm Degree or equivalent

Articles

Basic knowledge of VAT, Income Tax, and IFRS

Minimum 2 years’ commercial experience

Pastel Evolution experience an advantage

Salary is R----- CTC per annum. Standard large company benefits apply.
