Accountant – Property Management & Investment Company

POSITION INFO:

Our client, a dynamic and entrepreneurial property management and investment company based in Northern Johannesburg, is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage and oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis across a diverse property portfolio. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity, statutory compliance, and providing decision-support to senior management.

The clients portfolio spans residential, commercial, and mixed-use assets, with additional operating entities across other industries forming part of the broader group. This role requires a hands-on, resilient professional who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Key Responsibilities:

Preparation and review of monthly management accounts, financial reports, and detailed variance analyses.

Development, monitoring, and control of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

Oversight of general ledger reconciliations and month-end / year-end close processes.

Ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial transactions on Pastel and MDA Property Management System.

Qualifications:

BCom Accounting / Finance degree (Honours, SAIPA or SAICA articles advantageous).

Experience Required:

Minimum 5-10 years'' experience as an Accountant (property sector experience preferred).

Strong working knowledge of Pastel and MDA property management system.

Proven experience with SARS eFiling, VAT, PAYE, and Income Tax processes.

Solid understanding of CIPC requirements and statutory compliance.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modelling).

Managing SARS compliance, including VAT, PAYE, Income Tax submissions, and liaising with SARS when required.

Handling CIPC compliance, including annual returns, statutory filings, and company amendments.

Assisting with external audits, ensuring compliance with IFRS and applicable accounting standards.

Monitoring cost controls and providing commercial insights and recommendations to improve profitability.

Supporting senior management with financial analysis, reporting, and strategic decision-making.

Supervising and mentoring junior finance staff, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and adherence to deadlines.

Managing multiple entities and priorities within strict time-sensitive constraints.
