We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial records,
from daily bookkeeping to the preparation of management accounts. This role is perfect for a
detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and
experience in the fast-paced FMCG or restaurant industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Processing & Reconciliation:
• Perform end-to-end processing and reconciliation of key accounts including:
− Debtors (Accounts Receivable)
− Creditors (Accounts Payable) – allocation and coding of invoices
− Cashbook, petty cash, and company credit cards
− Multi-currency bank accounts and daily deposit reconciliations
• Prepare and post standard and adjusting journal entries (monthly accruals, payroll,
depreciation).
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register for new builds, revamps, and disposals.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
• Maintain complete and accurate accounting records up to the trial balance.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts.
• Conduct food cost analysis, corroboration, and follow-up on variances.
• Support the coordination and planning of the annual budget process.
Compliance & Administration:
• Prepare and submit periodic VAT returns.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of salaries and wages.
• Maintain and manage the beneficiary list on the online banking system.
• Prepare and authorize payment batches.
• Maintain organised and audit-ready monthly financial files.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor of Commerce (B.Comm) degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting.
• Essential: High proficiency in Sage Evolution.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel skills are essential).
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Advantageous Skills:
• Experience applying IFRS/GAAP in a retail or office environment.
• Previous experience within the FMCG or restaurant/hospitality industry.
• Experience with payroll processing systems.
