SUMMARY:
ASSET CONTROLLER - East London Campus 

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements
·         Qualification – 3 year Finance degree (BCom),
·         BCom Honours will be added advantage
·         Experience - Minimum of 3 years’ working experience in Finance environment in a large organization, responsible for maintaining a FAR.

Main purpose / objective
The main purpose of this position is to ensure proper disclosure of Assets and Leases on University Annual Financial Statements in accordance to IFRS standards.
Key job functions
Managing and maintaining FAR:

• Perform reconciliations of FAR with GL
• Follow up on non-reconciling FAR items

Maintaining an accurate and complete Lease Schedule:

• Ensure that all existing and new lease agreements have been added on schedule
• Document handling for all lease agreements      
• Complete and accurate lease schedule

Maintain Insurance portfolio:

• Ensure that new additions on assets (per insurance policy) are registered for insurance         
• Minimize university expenditure on losses          
• Understanding of insurance policy terms and conditions

Management of University Assets Accounts

• Ensure that there are no misallocations on university asset accounts   
• Maintenance of accurate and complete Fixed Asset Register.
• Understanding and application of the university Assets Management policy

Ensuring that Project Assets are accurately classified and transferred to University GL

• Ensure that all Projects Assets are barcoded and brought to FAR in terms of University policies and controls    
• Accurate and Complete FAR      
• Understanding and correct interpretation of Project Assets MoU''s
