Job Description
This role will be internal legal advisor dealing with all the specialised claims.

To supervises 5 Groups/Team Leaders whose mandate is up to R15k per claim each
Your mandate is up to R50k
Duties
Third party, liability claims, Personal injury claims
Fidelity and computer crime claims
Trustee indemnity claims
Building damage (non-motor) claims
Registering new claims
Investigating the validity of claims
Appointing and liaising with loss adjusters and insurance carriers
Appointing and liaising with panel attorneys
Referring possible policy endorsements to underwriting
Sign off rejections and upheld rejections
Authorize claim-staff payments
Drafting own rejections and uphold rejections of all claims staff (+/- 20 claims handlers)
Handling of Complaints and attending to Complaint responses
Assisting with Ombudsman Complaints
Reviewing and editing of general agreements / contracts / policies
General office and file management
Qualifications
LLB. BCom Law. FSB Regulatory Exam Level 1 (RE5).
Skills
Proven track record within similar role and company. Experienced in Legal Practice mostly handling Insurance Law matters and experienced as a Legal Advisor/In-house Claims Supervisor at a Commercial Short Term Insurance Company. Good Leadership skills. Able to manage team leaders. Ideally to have served articles/practiced at a Law Firm specializing in Insurance Law. Experience should extend to Recoveries, Third Party Claims, Claims Supervision, and Civil Litigation. Excellent negotiation and drafting skills required.
