A global NGO animal welfare organisation for animals under human influence, which reveals suffering, rescues animals in need and protects them at the Sanctuary. The Facility has a 25 room Lodge, Restaurant, Curio Shop, Cabins, Lapa, Playground, reception and kitchen area. There is also a Workshop, Parking, Staff Quarters, Sanctuary Enclosures, Office Building, Farm House on this large farm site which this role would fully manage.
Job Description
We are looking for dedicated Facility Manager to enrich our team. Your role will report directly to the Site Manager/one of the Founding members of the organization but will ultimately be fully responsible for the sound management of all the facilities. It is important that you have strong leadership skills and experience working for an NGO in the fundraising space. This role will not be an operational one but more a senior Management/Strategic one. Able to control operations but not be on the ground oneself. Strong Project and Financial Management skills and proven track record required.
Your contribution will be
- Ensuring that daily operations of the sanctuary facilities run smoothly, and that regular checks and maintenance are being completed
- Liaising with external security providers to ensure proactive security measures (including anti-poaching) are implemented at the sanctuary
- Creating and implementing staff development plans
- Managing the construction of enclosures and other construction projects onsite
- Developing and improving current SOPs in the areas of maintenance and security
- Acting as the onsite IT and technical liaison to ensure the provision of a robust and resilient service that meets the onsite requirements
- Financial Management
Qualifications
Relevant qualification or proven work experience in a similar role and organization.
Skills
Previous experience working as a Facility Manager for international NGOs or relevant corporate sector experience. Strong written and verbal English skills. IT / technical skills. Strong with Management reporting, Budgeting, Strategy, Ordering Stock and Supplies, Supplier Relations. Willingness to travel as well as a valid driver’s license. Strong leadership and collaboration skills. Need to be a South African citizen or be a Permanent Resident holder.
Benefits
Negotiable. Pension fund membership is compulsory and will be effective after the probation period. Medical aid is optional, and if opted for will be added as a benefit. The Organization unfortunately does not pay any bonuses or 13th cheques; thus the annual salary runs over a 12 month period. Single Accommodation can be offered for the first month or so until own accommodation in surrounding region can be found (if not already from the area).
