A large national Insurance product Distributer/Brokerage with offices located in all major cities in RSA. This role is to be based in their Durban (Kloof) branch.
Job Description
Will supervise a team of 4 Claims Consultants. Will be responsible for handling Mandated and Non-Mandated claims. The company has a 60/40 split in Commercial and Personal Lines business. Authorizations on claims / rejections. Auditing of all claims. Assist with training of staff. Assisting claims staff with technical matters. Updating of stats weekly. Attend meetings as required. Advising the Insurer of any loss above R-----. Auditing of all large losses. Reading of Assessors or Investigators reports and note comments as to the validity of the claim and hand to Technical Advisor for approval. Ensure that reserves are correct and updated. Ensure recovery files handed to recovery department. Assess merit of claims against policies. Attend to all correspondence. Liaise with Brokers, Clients and Suppliers. Keep Clients updated of developments. Follow up on outstanding salvage and ensure that monies are received. Attend to claims payments requisitions to Pb, Attorneys, Investigators. Attend to Third Party Claims against insured and payments. Ensure that files are diarised and attend to diary on the required dates. Attend to outstanding claims with a view to bring it to finality as soon as possible. Attend to salvage. Ensure discounts are achieved. Ensure claim files are neat and that correspondence is placed on the file in date order. Ensure that once claim file is finalized that there are no outstanding reserve reflecting on the system. Assist Senior Management, Brokers, Clients and Suppliers on any claims related query. Any other Job of temporary nature that might be assigned to myself within reason. Must have working knowledge of TIAL.
Qualifications
Matric, A minimum of 10 years’ commercial and personal lines claims experience in the insurance industry. Short-term Insurance qualifications will be an added advantage, Being FAIS compliant will be an added advantage.
Skills
Strong Leadership and Management skills. Ability to manage and lead a team of 4 members of staff. Emotionally Intelligent. Well experienced in Motor and Non Motor, Commercial and Personal Lines, Mandated and Non Mandated business and Claims. Experienced not only within Brokerages but with Insurance Companies and/or UMAs. Fluency in English and Afrikaans. Computer Literacy (MS Word, Outlook and Excel). Working Knowledge of TIAL essential.
