Employer Description

A Leading independent risk & short-term insurance advisor - Durban Branch. As the Durban Office has closed since Covid, whilst a KZN-based individual will be an advantage, the person will work remotely so can also be based in Gauteng near the head office and travel occasionally to Duban to meet with the Durban Corporate Solutions Branch Manager and Team.

Job Description

 

Job Purpose: To ensure the accurate and efficient capturing, processing and completion of client policies (Corporate Business – Assets All Risk). The position will report directly to the Underwriting Manager.

Key Outputs:

UNDERWRITING:

Securing New Business: Obtain prospective client’s current insurance details, Approach market for quotes – compile presentation documents, including comparison, Ensure all relevant forms are completed and signed, Confirm cover arrangements with client, Arrange/Lay off cover with Insurer, Draft summary for typing, Process policy documents – raise invoices where applicable, Complete pack to AE for delivery, Total turnaround time – 72 hours.

Renewals: Print copies of policies, claims experience and 3 years loss ratio reports, 6 weeks prior to renewal. Update summary and Excel spreadsheets (where applicable). Audit files for all relevant forms. Obtain / Negotiate terms with insurers. Assist AE with market exercise, where necessary – complete comparison. Accompany AE to renewal meeting. Confirm renewal discussion to client. Lay off cover with Insurer and sometimes multiple insurers. Update summary with renewal information. Process policy documents – raise invoices where applicable. Complete pack to AE for delivery. Total turnaround time – 72 hours.

Confirmations: Cover confirmation to be processed immediately – copy to AE, client and Insurer. Diarise, if there is outstanding information. Process amendment directly, if all information available. Turnaround time – Immediate.

Amendments: Acknowledge receipt of amendment request – advise AE, Obtain terms – process endorsement, Send copy to Insurers, Post signed original to the client, Turnaround time – 48 hours

Cancellations: Advise AE immediately, Action on AE’s advice, Turnaround time – 48 hours

Multi-Claimants: Process corrective endorsement/cancellation on AE’s advice, Turnaround time – 48 hours

Key Outputs:

MANAGE OWN AREA:

At all times:

  • Effectively and efficiently maintain filing system (electronic and other)
  • Timely Responses to email and telephonic messages.
  • Ensure that an accurate record is kept of all new matters received in the dept.
  • Maintaining professional behavior and work ethic
  • Display personal accountability for own actions, quality of work, and personal development
  • Ensure that all deadlines are met and that SLA’s are adhered to
  • Ensure all turnaround times and target dates are adhered to
  • Ensure required response times to emails and telephonic messages are adhered to
  • Ensure that all relevant Procedure Manuals (Standard Operating Procedures) are adhered to
  • Be punctual, keeping to prescribed hours/ timekeeping

  • Team player and adhere to the backup arrangement as required by the department to ensure cohesion
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as allocated from time to time

 

Qualifications

Matric, FAIS Compliant (Full Short Term Insurance Qualification at NQF level 4 or higher). Successfully passed RE1 / 5

Skills

Full working knowledge and experience of TIAL. Effective Time Management skills, computer literacy (word, excel, outlook), Email and Telephone Etiquette, SOP concept. Minimum five years relevant CORPORATE Internal Broker/Underwriting work experience in short-term insurance. (Over R250 Million Sums Insured +/Assets All Risk) Results-oriented. Commitment. Customer Driven. Continuous Learning. Assertiveness. Honesty, Integrity & Ethical Behaviour. Flexible & Adaptable to change.   Strategic thinking (proactive / ability to use initiative / innovation). The role will suit a more mature person with limited personal demands.

Salary / Package

R30,000-R50,000 Negotiable Dependent on Experience
