POSITION INFO:

Sub Regional OI Manager Southern Africa

Woodmead

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Manage and implement Global and Regional OI programs, projects and tasks in the sub-region
  • Report, manage, investigate RAM 4 & 5 incidents
  • Set Sub-regional Top Page with Regional Managing Director and Guide Countries'' Top Pages
  • Manage and develop Country OI network, including local business-specific OI’s ("Safety Champions")
  • Participate in HSE Capex Reviews and notify business of capital needs
  • Manage Due Diligence process for mergers and acquisitions
  • Willing to travel as when required

Specific Responsibilities FIC RESPONSIBILITES

  • Identify, plan, recommend and complete OI programs following the Global OI strategy and applicable business strategies
  • Align work with Global OI, sub-regional and Country OI and RMD
  • Create and develop a sub-regional OI organization to implement the Global and Regional OI strategy throughout the region
  • Develop competency of OI personnel through best practice sharing and implementation of applicable best practices from internal and external sources
  • Implement and assess the operational status of global and regional policies and standards to assure compliance
  • Ensure audits are conducted to assess implementation of OI Programs and regulatory compliance regarding Health, Safety and Environmental areas.
  • Provide OI support to sites and functions (e.g. Purchasing, HR) during projects during site expansions, new construction, new equipment purchases, new processes etc.
  • Ensure reporting of OI relevant items, KPI’s, including incidents, near misses, hazards and current issues within the region
  • Participate in SGS wide OI activities including Safe Start, Safety Month, Quarterly Campaigns, Best Practice Sharing, BBS and strategic planning
  • Additional tasks can be assigned to the job holder to support the overall OI strategy
  • Assist and ensure compliance to local legislations and requirements.
  • Management reviews.
  • Keep up to date with global SGS systems, accreditation/certification bodies and codes of best practice’s requirements.
  • Ensure legal compliance at sites.

Profile

  • Relevant  Health and Safety Qulification(s)
  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years’ experience in Health, Safety and/or Environmental management
  • You must have worked within Mining and Manufacturing Enviroment

Required Skills

  • Ability to understand and explain technical (HSE specific) topics towards different hierarchy levels
  • Ability to develop strategic (long term) HSE rollout plan for different countries following a global/regional strategy
  • Ability to manage a remote team
  • Ability to assess the regional HSE performance by developing and/or using existing tools; prioritizing risks and influencing factors
  • Ability to evaluate the accuracy of root cause analysis and the effectiveness of proposed solutions
  • Profound knowledge of English and ability to speak and write effectively
