Performance Improvement Manager - Smelter

SUMMARY:
Our client in the mining industry has an opportunity available for a Performance Improvement Manager - Smelter to be based in the Rustenburg area.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements:

• BTech/B Eng. in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering (NQF 7) is essential
• Relevant Honours Degree is desirable
• Management Development Programme (MBA/MBL) is desirable
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Mineral Processing environment in PGM industry is essential
• Previous management & project management experience is essential
• Previous exposure to Smelter production operations is essential
• Experience in the design and execution of business strategy is essential
• Experience in coordinating the projects/initiatives prioritization process and interface regularly with management to identify project priorities, implementation opportunities/challenges is essential
• Experience in productivity, efficiency and continuous improvement is essential
• Experience in the design and execution of business strategy and previous exposure to Processing production operations is essential
• Valid Medical Certificate or medically fit in order to obtain such a certificate
• Knowledge of unit processes and research methodologies
• Knowledge of smelting operations, gas handling systems and HR principles and methodologies
• Knowledge of environmental processes, modelling and simulation

• Ensure Smelter Plant achieve production targets safely and cost efficiently
• Develop and implement strategic plan for Smelter Plant and support the Smelter Manager in the strategic management process
• Provide optimal structure and resources to implement strategy effectively
• Increase technical competence and workforce effectiveness as well as implementation of high-performance culture
• Initiates integrate and control process improvement initiative through Processing Technical Services Department.
• Identify relevant continuous improvement initiatives that result into the short term, medium- and long-term strategy
